Susan C. Pokwatka, CFP®, ChFC®, RICP® is a Financial Consultant and Planner and Investment Advisor Representative with DeFranco Financial, providing her planning experience and strategies as part of the team at DeFranco Financial. She has over 28 years of experience in the financial services industry.
Her career began in 1990 at Prudential Securities in Wheeling, WV, offering services to the firm’s investment clients. She currently holds the Series 7, 24, and 63 Registration with LPL Financial and the Series 65 Registration with Founders Financial Alliance.
In 2006, after attending and successfully completing classes at the College for Financial Planning, she passed the CFP® examination to become a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner. In 2010, Susan completed additional classes through the American College and attained the advanced certification ChFC®, Chartered Financial Consultant. In 2018, she completed additional courses with the American College and attained the certification of RICP®.
Susan founded and managed SP Financial Strategies, LLC for 10 years to offer holistic financial planning services, including retirement and estate planning, as well as investment and insurance products. She also coordinated income and estate tax strategies with her CPA Partner Louis J. Costanzo III. Susan has worked with over 300 clients, including small businesses and retirees and served as her firm’s Supervisory Principal. This unique planning model continues to grow and in 2017 Susan closed SP Financial Strategies, LLC and joined DeFranco Financial to continue with her love of helping clients pursue their financial goals.
Susan is proud to be a member of the Ohio Valley Christian Soldiers and the Hampton Lake Women’s Group.
She and her husband Bob split their time between South Carolina and West Virginia, they have two daughters and two grandsons.
Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. owns the certification marks CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM and CFP (with flame logo) in the U.S., which it awards to individuals who successfully complete CFP Board’s initial and ongoing certification requirements.
